Reality Bites. Farms and Leisure Industry are Badly Affected by Deportations.
Wow, who'd have thunk it?
Don’t you wish we had a President with at least a 4th grade reading level? I wasn’t planning on writing anything while I’m on the road, but then I saw the buffoon’s tweets about the deportation mess he started.
"Our farmers are being hurt badly. They have very good workers – they're not citizens, but they've turned out to be great. And we're going to have to do something about that, We can't take farmers and take all their people and send them back because they don't have, maybe, what they're supposed to have. You go into a farm and you look and people, they've been there for 20 or 25 years and they work great and the owner of the farm loves them and you're supposed to throw them out. You know what happens? They end up hiring the criminals that have come in, the murderers from prisons and everything else…So we're going to have an order on that pretty soon – we can't do that to our farmers and leisure too, hotels, we're going to have to use a lot of common sense on that."1
This idiot should never be allowed near anything sharp. What a moron. I think that goes for the billionaire class in general. Clearly these people have no idea what happens among the great unwashed. How many times did people try to warn the Orange Buffoon and his minions that undocumented people make up a rather significant portion of our economy and hold jobs that most White Americans don’t want to do. Suddenly, the buffoon explains that, gee, the workers are “great workers” and the “owner of the farm loves them.” Thanks, Donnie, what we would do with you?
So, yes it is true that undocumented workers hold jobs. Quite a few jobs.
Nearly 1 million undocumented immigrants work in accommodation and food services, approximately 8.4 percent of all workers in the industry.
Approximately 25 percent of workers in farming, fishing, and forestry occupations are undocumented—although this is likely an undercount—as are 16 percent of workers in construction and extraction occupations.
15 percent of workers in building and grounds cleaning and maintenance occupations are undocumented.2
That is just a small percentage of the undocumented workers here in the U.S. Undocumented workers are vital to our businesses and not just hotel, leisure, and farming.
What do you think when ICE starts rounding up medical workers?
Nearly one-quarter of a million—236,000—undocumented immigrants are working as health care providers, including:
15,000 registered nurses and licensed practical nurses
19,000 lab and diagnostic technicians
139,000 home health aides, nursing assistants, and personal care aides
Another 188,000 undocumented immigrants are working in health care settings as custodians, food servers, and administrative workers to keep hospitals, nursing homes, and labs functioning.3
If and when ICE starts going after medical workers, whether it is nurses and aides, or custodians and administrative staff, that will be another devastating blow to the health industry, especially in rural areas.
And these good people do work hard and they are loved by their neighbors and friends, maybe even by their employers. This is why Los Angeles became pissed off when ICE thugs started going into businesses and yanking people out, clothed in full riot gear. Like a seamstress might pose a threat. Good grief. What the hell is wrong with these people?
But the moron wasn’t done yet.
"Biden let 21 Million Unvetted, Illegal Aliens flood into the Country from some of the most dangerous and dysfunctional Nations on Earth — Many of them Rapists, Murderers, and Terrorists. This tsunami of Illegals has destroyed Americans' Public Schools, Hospitals, Parks, Community Resources, and Living Conditions," the president wrote. "They have stolen American Jobs, consumed BILLIONS OF DOLLARS in Free Welfare, and turned once idyllic Communities, like Springfield, Ohio, into Third World Nightmares."4
Wrong again, buffalo breath. Biden didn’t let in 21 million aliens. Maybe 10 million, but that is an iffy count. Many of them were certainly not “rapists, murderers, and terrorists.” And rather than destroying schools, hospitals, parks, community resources and living conditions, these undocumented people worked to keep many of those businesses open, schools and parks clean. They have also not stolen American jobs, they took jobs offered to them that, as I said before, many White Americans don’t want to do. Free welfare…what the eff is he even talking about?
Undocumented workers and their households pay $79.7 billion in federal tax contributions and $41 billion in state and local tax contributions.
These households hold $314.9 billion in spending power.
Undocumented immigrants own 1.6 million homes, paying $20.6 billion in mortgage payments each year, while other undocumented workers pay $49.1 billion in rental payments annually.
On top of their federal tax contributions, undocumented workers also buoy the social safety net; their employers annually contribute payroll taxes totaling $17 billion for Social Security and $4 billion for Medicare, for which undocumented immigrants are ineligible.5
When the regime deports all of these undocumented persons out, this country will fall apart. Much like the buffoon is beginning to figure out from the farm and leisure industries.
And again he is talking about Springfield, OH. Seriously, put him in a home for people with dementia.
I’ll wrap up with this. This regime and the creators of the Project 2025 disaster did not consider the facts when they put together their evil little plans. Instead, they went with their unverified assertions driven by their racism and bigotry and never thought through the actual consequences of deporting millions of people who are actively involved in our economy and our way of life.
We see this in virtually every department in this regime. Clumsy, ill thought out ideas, half-formed plans, and no consideration that maybe, just maybe, they are missing the whole point.
The issue is not with undocumented immigrants. The issue is with a political party who has sold out to a bigoted, racist, xenophobe, and they have given him carte blanche to do whatever the hell he wants to do. We’re a little late to be using “a lot of common sense on this.”
Thanks for reading.
Please be safe at the protests tomorrow. Remember, if you see someone starting something up, sit down, stay still. Most likely it’s a provocateur.
Knowledge is power.
