Since Artificial Intelligence (AI) became mainstream, there have been a number of concerns about using it. In order to understand it and to identify when it may be used by students, most if not all colleges and universities have held workshops to help faculty identify it’s possible use and clues to look for it in student’s papers.
One of the things that we were warned about was that AI will often “create” articles out of thin air and assign authors to the articles. No idea why exactly this happens, but it is a known issue. So when students turn in papers that are suspect, we look through the references that are cited to make sure they actually exist. There are other tells of course, but that is a significant one.
Don’t get me wrong, there is a time and a place for AI. Used properly it can actually reinforce one’s paper and writing and be pretty helpful.
So, when the news broke last week that the MAHA Report “Make Our Children Healthy Again” had several articles listed that were not actually in existence, I was a little surprised, but not entirely surprised, that this regime would not know to go over their report and make sure it was legit. Instead, they began with what they believe and used terms to generate a “report” that was entirely designed to support their beliefs. This is not “formatting issues” as Karoline Leavitt claimed. This is academic dishonesty. This is something that anyone working with AI is well aware of. And what it tells us is that the entire report is bogus.
The report was written to support Executive Order 14212, Establishing the President’s Make America Healthy Again Commission. Let’s start by looking at some facts.
In March, UCLA Health published a report stating that pediatric chronic disease had risen by 30% over the last 20 years.1 According to the study’s lead author, Lauren Wisk, PhD., the causes of this rise include “ADHD/ADD, autism, asthma, prediabetes and depression/anxiety.” She goes on to add something that is important to bear in mind as we consider this issue. Dr. Wisk states, “Youth who are subject to socioeconomic vulnerability such as having less education, lower income, are on public insurance, or unemployed are all more likely to live with a chronic condition than youth with socioeconomic advantages.”
I will come back to that statement in a moment. In the MAHA report, whose lead author is none other than Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. (no PhD, no medical experience, no credibility whatsoever, but he does claim to have a brainworm) claims that this health crisis is due to “poor diet, environmental toxins, stress, insufficient physical activity and "overmedicalisation.…”2 These are RFK, Jr’s bugaboos. Anyone who thought that this report would be conducted in any manner that was supported by research actually done on the issue was not taking into consideration Mr. Kennedy’s brainworm.
The study that I noted just above - the one from UCLA Health - is not even mentioned in the MAHA Report. How is that even possible? Oh yea, brainworm. It’s so easy to forget.
Dr. Wisk noted that a primary cause for this health crisis is socioeconomic vulnerability. In other words, children raised in lower income homes suffer from chronic diseases more so than children raised in higher income homes. This is not exactly the first time this has been reported. It is a well known fact that people in a lower socioeconomic status tend to suffer from more ailments and diseases than those in higher SES. Why is this important to note?
The reason I bring this up is that virtually everything this regime has done since getting into office has come at the expense of people who are economically disadvantaged. There is a coming healthcare crisis in this country should the Big Butt-ugly Bill get passed by the Senate without major reforms. Hospitals will shut down - not in wealthy communities, but in communities where the economically disadvantaged live. This will exacerbate the problem of the healthcare crisis the regime claims they want to solve. I have written about this pretty extensively.
But here we have a real live honest-to-God study conducted with academic honesty and reported out properly without AI that highlights the problem with our healthcare industry is NOT “overmedicalisation,” but class differences and different standards of healthcare for different classes of people, brought about by the government’s refusal to accept that healthcare is not a privilege, but a right. And one that would benefit our entire country.
Before you say, well this regime is just brand new, this crisis isn’t their fault, let me point something out. I put the onus of this crisis on the Republican party in general. Why? Because ever since President Obama passed the Affordable Care Act, the Republicans have sought to dismantle it. And the people most affected by those efforts have been the economically disadvantaged.3
When the government is out to make billionaires into trillionaires, people are going to suffer. And those who suffer will be the ones that are having their healthcare and other social safety nets ripped away from them in order to stuff the pockets of the wealthy.
Sadly, there is a healthcare crisis that is affecting children. More sadly, the regime in charge doesn’t give a damn about that. So, in addition to using AI to produce the “report” on this crisis, the regime is also dismantling the very structures we need to turn this crisis around.
Make it stop!

And everything gets better when everyone is healthy and working, and the economy is better when lower to middle income people get healthy and earn money because they tend to spend it increasing the money supply vs. the rich brainworm people who tend to save it, often offshore. Brainworm. I just thought I should mention the word brainworm a few more times. :-)
